Firescreens (AKA Beds)

My design style, as you see, is organic and fluid. The only straight lines
will be found on the frame sections. Even the "Grid's" design rods are trembled.
I like the natural, varied color of heated steel -- grays, black, browns -- and
I finish work to keep those tones.
All screens are made of two 1/4" by 3/4" frames. Screen materiel is sandwiched
between the frames and fixed by rivet head bolts. Design details are 1/4" hot
rolled rod. Screen materiel is black , steel frames and design elements are
polymer waxed.
Rectangular frames:
To 800 sq. inches, $800
to 1000 sq. inches, $900
to 1200 sq. inches, $1000
to 1400 sq. inches, $1200
to 1600 sq. inches, $1400 (larger sizes require quote)
For arched screens, add 20% ($16O, 18O, 200, so on.) Compound curves - two
directions of curve - and "winged" or folding screens need to be quoted
individually.
How to measure.
The best part is, ANY size firebox you have can be accommodated with a custom
fit.
Generally, a slight overlap is desired, so measure firebox hole size and add 1
1/2" to width, 3/4" to height. If you wish to follow an arch, measurements can
be given as height of curve above side panels, in which case a "standard" curve
will be used. Or if an existing curve is to be followed more closely, you can
trace/draw the arch and send me the template. Remember that my bends are hand
formed and while they will be beautiful, they will not be compass curves.
Feet on the screens extend 5-6" on each side at the front, and at the center of
the back. If the hearth is unusual (stepped down in firebox, or with a short
front tier) be sure to tell me so that I can modify the feet. On all but the
smallest screens, the feet bolt on and will need to be placed on screen at
receipt. This is necessary to allow for UPS shipping. Should you need the feet
to be welded in place, truck shipping is an option, but is more expensive and
will need to be quoted individually.
Tool sets.
Three tools (brush, shovel, hook) and stand, $450.
Four tools (additional tongs) and stand, $525.
To substitute a wall mounted hook bar for stand, deduct $100.
Design of tool sets will follow screen design.
BEDS
Any of the design fields in a firescreen can also be done as a headboard or
footboard. Inquire for details and consider Delia as a reference for local
retail shops as they produce two of my more popular designs.
