Smaragus
A small listing of ceramics...
If you tried to look Smaragus up, you likely
couldn't find it. From The Handbook of Classical Mythology, Howe and
Harrer; "a mischievous demon who would maliciously cause earthenware pots to
break while they were being baked in the furnace." Giving him his own site might
placate him. That site is found here,
Smaragus. There you will find a tale or two.
Legends on the teapots, part of a "Myths of Tea" series, are my own except when
attributed.
"Small Tea Temple to Pandemos"
to Pandemos"
"Julius Vitalis, Armourer of the XXth Legion Valeria Victrix, of IX years service, aged XXIX, a Beligic Tribesman, of fever died on the Lewes Road. He owed this."
Text translated from a stele in Bath.
"Of the fifty Nereids, Pekoea and Jasminea were those who offered hot tea to shipwrecked sailors."
"The Thriae were first to prophesy with tea leaves. Zeus, jealous, stirred disbelief into their teapot."
